Healing Circles, Talking Circles and Yarning Circles

You might have heard of Healing Circles, Talking Circles, and Yarning Circles but aren't quite sure what sets them apart. Let's break it down together!

Healing Circles are all about healing yourself and others for the highest good. They create a safe space for emotional and spiritual healing.

Talking Circles focus on respectful dialogue. Everyone gets a chance to speak and be heard, fostering mutual respect and understanding.

Yarning Circles focus on storytelling, knowledge exchange, and learning. By sharing stories and experiences, they aim to reach a consensus on a matter or opportunity.

All these Circles help build communication and connection, making them great for cross-cultural understanding. The facilitator or organizer must understand the cultural philosophical ethos (CPE) and cultural terms of reference (CTR) underpinning each Circle.

Cultural Philosophical Ethos (CPE) refers to the core beliefs and values that shape a culture's way of life. It's like the guiding principles that influence how people think and behave.

Cultural Terms of Reference (CTR) are the unique expressions and practices that define a culture. They include customs, social norms, and language that carry cultural significance. CTR helps people within a culture communicate with each other and those from different cultures.

Understanding these cultural foundations is key to any Healing Circle, Talking Circle, or Yarning Circle success. Jahavel offers training in CPE and CTR to help people grasp the nuances of cultural communication.

One thing all these Circles have in common is that they involve a group of participants sitting in a circle. However, the level of preparation and organization can vary quite a bit between them.
